As of May 12, 2010, Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance” video has racked up over 202,000,000 Youtube views, making it the most watched YouTube video of all time! To think, not too long ago, I didn’t even know who she was.
The first time I heard of her was a reference made on The Ugly Betty TV show (my favorite comedy until it was canceled) by the flamboyant gay character, Mark. He was reacting to some fashion faux pas exclaiming “Oh, my Lady GaGa” instead of oh my God.
I think “Bad Romance” is a great video performance. It was obviously designed with a very gay aesthetic. It’s just incredibly creative, with extraordinary eye appeal. I like to watch it several times in a row. I was a film major in college, and I really appreciate how well this video is edited. It’s perfect!
